Glass Matrix-Based Antimicrobial Additives

LG Electronics Debuts LG PuroTec™ at K 2025

LG Electronics is promoting its PuroTec material technology, an antimicrobial additive derived from a glass-based matrix, at a major international plastics exhibition. The substance is designed to be integrated into various materials — including plastics, textiles, and coatings — and its intention is to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi.

LG Electronics boldly highlighted the versatility of its PuroTec material technology for use across multiple sectors, such as home appliances, healthcare, and automotive components. As part of its business-to-business growth strategy, LG is also pursuing the development of international certification standards for the antimicrobial additive. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with global certification organization SGS Korea, which will validate the efficacy of the PuroTec material and build market trust.
