It looks like the worlds of gaming and pro sports are colliding, as video game company Rovio and the Philadelphia Eagles football team have announced an Angry Birds Eagles partnership. The partnership, a first for the popular video game (which currently boasts 1 billion downloads), comprises an Eagles-themed version of Angry Birds, in addition to social media marketing campaigns and Jumbotron game replays featuring Angry Birds characters.
The video here shows a cartoon version of the Eagles coach Andy Reid announcing the Angry Birds Eagles deal by introducing “new members” to the team, including ‘Bomb Bird’ and ‘Terence.’ According to the Eagles’ senior vice president of business Ari Roitman, the new partnership allows the team, as well as Rovio, to better capture the attention of today’s more digitally oriented football fans, who are consistently immersed in gadgets, games and social media.
