The latest American Airlines airplanes will now come equipped with iPads in the cockpit. The travel company is the first of its kind to install the tablets, relegating the paper-based Jepperson guides as a thing of the past.
The paper guides weighed approximately 40 pounds. Space has as such been freed up with the introduction of the iPad here. And while it is a modern development, in line with present demands for enhanced technology while on board flights, the way in which it is received among pilots will remain to be seen. For the present moment however, it represents a huge step for not online American Airlines, but also for the aviation industry as a whole.
