Skyline IFE, led by Managing Director Richard Barsby, created an AI-driven quality-control app that scans in-flight entertainment files for inappropriate content and technical compliance. The system is designed to verify correct language identification in audio tracks and detect visual issues, with an embedded content-moderation layer that flags nudity, violence, drugs, hate symbols, and other flagged items.
The tool is integrated into Skyline's transcoding pipeline and can process hundreds of files in parallel. It also checks for leftover master markers by detecting tone signals, black frames, and slate screens, and it distinguishes regional language variants, such as Latin American Spanish versus Castilian Spanish.
Scan times scale with runtime, taking roughly three minutes for a half-hour episode and about 15 minutes for an 180-minute feature. The app generates a report for human review, enabling airlines to speed up content acceptance while maintaining editorial control. Skyline plans ongoing updates as AI improves.
