Roblox first launched in September of 2006 and garnered popularity over the years -- the latest technology to drop is a real-time AI chat translation. This is meant to bring a more seamless connection to players all over the world. Noted by CTO Daniel Sutrman, his team worked to create their own "unified, transformer-based translation LLM (large language model)" so that it would be able to understand all 16 languages that are supported on the game's platform.
In addition to this, the team also made sure that it could recognize the slang language and abbreviations specific to Roblox. When integrated, the chat window showcases the conversation in their own language with a short latency of only 100 milliseconds.
