A mobile initiative by Adobe called the 'Adobe Kuler' app lets anybody capture color palettes from their surroundings.

The app works by taking a snapshot of your environment and then extracting key colors. The colors are picked based on a chosen 'mood.' Each mood is composed of a theme such as 'muted' or 'colorful.' With this technology, designers can easily leverage the colors of their favorite pictures to develop beautifully colored creations.

Though Adobe has already established a color palette-based service called Kuler, the Adobe Kuler app is the platform's first venture into the realm of mobile apps. Instead of manually choosing colors, Adobe wanted to automate the process. As a result, the app makes good use of smartphone camera capabilities to make the design inspiration process as painless as possible.
