The AAKS bag line is communally handwoven by a group of women in Bolgatanga, Ghana. Founder Akosua Afriyie-Kumi discovered a need for the purses while traveling to London for her studies in art and design.
By producing her line in her African homestead, Afriye-Kumi hopes to embolden the "Made in Ghana" tag. She is doing so by infusing the designation with her own sense of luxury, modernity and style, instantly apparent in the items which feature stripes of blue, black, red and beige, all put together seamlessly.
