The traditional White House Christmas card received a much-needed update, which came courtesy of Iowa artist Larassa Kabel who painted the contemporary portrait of the famed Obama family pooch. Bo, a Portuguese water dog, became famous for being the celebratory gift that President Obama gave to his daughters when he arrived in office in 2008.
The stunning portrait of the playful pooch is set on the snowy front lawn of the White House and has come under criticism for not featuring a Christmas tree. Each year, a much more traditional image has graced the front of the cards and while some are upset by the change, others are praising it as a step forward for making the cards more inclusive.
