New Balance Sashiko Gals 1300JP Has Embroidery with Affordable Pricing

Sashiko Gals 1300JP is an ultra-limited collaboration between New Balance Japan and the sashiko collective Sashiko Gals, built around the Made in USA 1300JP runner. The project sits under New Balance Japan’s Crafted for the Future initiative and sees artisans apply hand-stitched sashiko panels across the classic silhouette, covering the upper in layered indigo textiles and running stitches. Only two pairs of the customized 1300JP are being produced, alongside four varsity jackets, with all items released via a lottery held at the New Balance Harajuku flagship.

Each sneaker is treated as a one-off piece, with visible sashiko stitching in white, orange and blue thread that extends across panels and even the lace tips. The matching jackets are also made in the United States and finished by hand with sashiko detailing. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to MOONSHOT, a program that funds the development of future sashiko artists and platforms for their work.
