DOCKCASE Debuted Its NVMe Smart SSD Enclosure to Protect Storage

DOCKCASE has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming public release of its 'M.2 NVMe Smart SSD Enclosure.' This enclosure allows consumers to use an M.2 NVMe SSD, which is normally an internal SSD, as an ultra-fast external drive. One of the many features for storage safety on this enclosure is its built-in "Power Loss Protection" (PLP). This functionality minimizes the amount of data loss by using a small onboard power supply to keep the SSD on long enough for it to be plugged in again in the event of a power outage.

In the event of a power failure, the DOCKCASE SSD enclosure can maintain power for roughly 10 seconds, which it uses to prevent the loss of data. For reference, 10 seconds of power is long enough for an M.2 NVMe SSD to transfer approximately 10GB of storage, or three full-length HD movies.

DOCKCASE's Smart SSD Enclosure features a built-in smart display that shows a variety of metrics, such as disk management information, power-on duration, information on the available storage size and current partitions, and other pieces of relevant information. The full list of specifications are available on DOCKCASE's website, or its associated Kickstarter page.
