Amazon's AWS Unveiled 'Bedrock AgentCore' to Simplify AI Building

Amazon Web Services introduced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore in preview on July 16, 2025, as a comprehensive platform for moving AI agents from experimental prototypes into secure, production-ready systems. AgentCore is designed to be framework- and model-agnostic, supporting any open-source agent framework—such as CrewAI, LangGraph or Strands Agents—and any foundation model, whether hosted on Amazon Bedrock or elsewhere. By standardizing protocols like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A), the platform simplifies integration with external tools and services, enabling enterprises to deploy agents that can reason, plan and act autonomously against user-defined goals with limited human oversight.

The Bedrock AgentCore suite comprises seven modular services that can be used individually or in concert to address the full agent lifecycle. AgentCore Runtime provides secure, serverless environments with true session isolation and support for long-running workflows. AgentCore Memory offers both short-term and long-term context management for more coherent multi-turn interactions. AgentCore Observability delivers real-time debugging, telemetry and execution tracing. AgentCore Identity ensures agents can authenticate and access AWS resources or third-party services under strict authorization controls.

The Gateway service transforms existing APIs and Lambda functions into agent-ready tools, while the Browser and Code Interpreter services supply managed web automation and sandboxed code execution, respectively. Together, these components eliminate much of the underlying infrastructure work, enabling development teams to accelerate enterprise-scale agent deployments with built-in security, compliance and scalability.
