Amazon Pharmacy Debuts the First Drone Delivery Service for Medications

Amazon is advancing its e-commerce and delivery strategies by merging them into a single, groundbreaking service. Amazon Pharmacy. Amazon has revealed that these medication packages will be delivered by drone within an astonishingly swift 60 minutes from the moment of order.

This service encompasses approximately 500 medications, including treatments for common conditions like flu, asthma, and pneumonia.

Currently, Prime Air drone services are available in only two markets, including Lockeford, California, with a limited range of non-Pharmacy products. Remarkably, the use of Amazon Pharmacy and the delivery via Prime Air drones will come at no additional cost to customers.

"[...] We’re working hard at Amazon to dramatically narrow the golden window from diagnosis to treatment, and drone delivery marks a significant step forward. Whether it’s an infectious disease or respiratory illness, early intervention can be critical to improving patient outcomes," said Dr. Vin Gupta, chief medical officer of Amazon Pharmacy.
