Sony Announces the 'A7R V' with an AI Processor for Subject Tracking

Sony is launching its new ‘A7R V’ camera in an effort to keep up with the growing demands in the imaging and photography industry. The huge 61 megapixels of the previous ‘A7R IV’ are still present in the ‘A7R V,’ but a dedicated AI processing unit has been added to the backside-illuminated full-frame sensor and Bionz XR engine. This allows the camera to hone in on cars, trains, planes, animals, and insects, as well as accurately focus on the eye of a subject that is partially hidden or turned.

The A7R V also features a revamped four-axis articulating rear display that can be used for waist-level shooting and turned for front-facing recording. Additionally, the camera boasts 8K video recording quality at 24p/25p with a 1.2x crop.
