Thanks to Carrie Bradshaw and the wild success of Sex and the City, the late 90s and early 2000s marked the reign of Manolo Blahnik and his strappy sandals; fast forward to 2011 and you'll find the year of Jeffrey Campbell's 20something shoe cult; this past year's shoe trends, however, dictate that the footwear designer du jour of 2013 was none other than the person with a WiFi connection and a hot glue gun.

The most aesthetically pleasing corners of the Internet were populated by DIY shoe tutorials this year. From DIY frilly sandals to found object-constructed footwear, the shoe looks of 2013 called for fashionistas to get a little crafty. The results were ultra-customized and entirely individual.
