Health advertising campaigns have the task of engaging consumers as well as educating them on the issue at hand. No easy task, many cause organizations turn to dramatic, emotional campaigns that inspire empathy in individuals, which in turn drives home the message.

Other campaigns use snarky commentary to highlight a less-than-hilarious point, such as a recent campaign launched by Meredith’s Miracles Colon Cancer Foundation in Chicago. In order to catch the attention of busy commuters, Meredith's Miracles placed print ads on the back of public buses that showed a person's backside with the caption, "No one wants to see this, except your doctor." Aiming to highlight the seriousness of frequent check-ups, the campaign does so in a way that is playful and light.
