23 Derek Lam Designs

Derek Lam is one of the most sought after American designers in the fashion industry today; just take a look through this gallery of Derek Lam designs to see why. The California-born designer is of Chinese heritage and has been designing since he graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in 1990.

After graduation, he began working for Michael Kors as his assistant, a job title he held for four years. He then moved to Hong Kong for some time while he worked for a large retail brand, before moving back to New York and being appointed vice president of Michael Kors’ line, Kors.

In 2003, Derek Lam launched his own namesake label and showed at New York Fashion Week that year. In 2005, Lam won the CFDA Perry Ellis Swarovski Award for new designers.
