What interests artist Lee Stoezel is the far-reaching power of nature in all of its forms. This must be why he works with wood, carving detailed art that features unusual inorganic subjects like an old VW bus, a chopper and a computer.

Stoezel likes to explore how nature always seems to find a way into the spaces that we think are under our control,  like the houses we build and the computers we use.

The thing I really love about these works of art is how the object changes character because of its natural material. For example, the Cypress wood gives the old VW bus so much charm that you almost want to live inside it.

I am specifically interested in how decrepit materials have energetic marks resembling brushstrokes, drawing marks, or even better, the look of aerial landscape or fossilized earth. Different markings can mimic burning, erosion, camouflage, stucco, and glaciation. (leestoetzel)
