The Venn diagram of people who enjoy meatballs and people who enjoy baseball likely has a large overlap, and Russian designer Vladimir Luzin's meatball packaging concept capitalizes on that shared passion. The design features a baseball theme, banking on the fact that the summertime sport is likely to engender a fair amount of grilling during the warm months.

Beyond the connection between meatballs on the grill and baseball on the diamond during the summer, the term "meatball" is itself slang that anyone who's played competitive baseball will be familiar with. The fastball is a pitch with very little movement, so when a fastball pitcher loses his velocity, he starts "serving up meatballs" that are a treat for the opposing hitters.
