After featuring the word NO on the faces and dresses of the models in their last runway show, Viktor & Rolf have said NO to doing a runway show in Paris Fashion Week. Instead, Viktor & Rolf will showcase their spring 2009 collection titled “Funny Face” online on October 2.

Yes, you don’t have to be a celebrity to attend their next show, you can do that from the comfort of your home.

“It is a take on what a fashion show might be in the future,” said Victor & Rolf of the online showcase, which will be hosted on viktor-rolf.com. It’s “An actual show filmed in the Grand Salon of our virtual house.”

The viewers will be able to access the backstage area, see fittings, and hair and makeup.

I think this is brilliant. Why suffer the inconvenience of fashion week when you can set up your show to be seen by both the industry and the public at your leisure?

The assorted fashion weeks might be good for up and coming designers to gain exposure, but famous brands and designers should be able to command enough attention to play the game on their terms and time.
