Tourist Radio uses Interactive GPS Technology Edit

Travel to Cape Town and take along a sattelite as your tour guide. A South African Company has successfully developed a first in the world radio station dedicated to tourism and guided by GPS (Global Positioning System) Technology installed in your rental car.

Your celestial companion talks to you through a radio station that you pay a small amount to use. The messages it sends includes historical information about the area your travellng in, weather and travel conditions and up to date news events and shows being hosted by the Town your driving through.

In between the broadcast you will be entertained by the radio station that acts like a local buddy… teaching you the slang, sharing the country’s best music and generally chatting up a good time. Just about the only thing it cant do is open up a beer or sip a glass of wine.. but no worries it will point the way to where you can.

Make friends with it in Cape Town first and by the end of 2006 it will be launched nationwide, with plans to spread internationally through the car rental network.
