What is it about Tetris that even decades after its release, and in the face of high-tech modern gaming innovation, it continues to hold such vast appeal? We’ve seen a range of Tetris-inspired gimmicks submitted on Trendhunter.com, and we’ve hand-picked our favourites for this cluster.

It was invented by Alexey Pajitnov, a Russian programmer, way back in 1985. Today it can be played on just about every gaming console and mobile phone, and has even inspired live events like Human Tetris.
