Baked Bean Wars - UK Baked Beans Now Double the Size

UK’s Branston is now selling tins containing beans double the size of the traditional baked bean.

The move is the latest step in the intense rivallry between the companies since Branston launched its own baked beans 6 months ago. Branson were initially judged to be winning theb PR victory batttle after Branston beat Heinz in taste tests. Heinz however, did not take defeat graciously and hit back changing the recipe and increasing the tomato content to 33 per cent, overtaking the 30 per cent of Branston.

Now Branston is to fill supermarket shelves with limited edition Bloomin Big Baked Beans. And you will be glad to know there is no corresponding increase in the anti-social after-effects sometimes associated with beans. Bloomin Big Baked Beans are made with otebo beans - identical in taste, texture and nutritional goodness to haricot beans but a lot larger!
