While candy necklaces and chocolate cigarettes have been confectionery novelties for decades, a range of new innovations are arising that turn things ordinarily not for consumption into unique, edible treats. Looking at all the unexpected things one can now consume is almost satiric considering the rapid global weight gain phenomenon.
Irony aside, some of these items also point toward an ingrained inclination, perhaps going back to childhood, to play with food, while others build on the global shift toward opting for more environmentally-friendly, compostable products.
