Brand identity designers do not underestimate the power of nostalgia, which is evident in Strong Boy Cereal packaging. While a particularly common technique for creating an eye-catching visual image for a product is to make it fresh and contemporary, there is great value in anchoring consumer goods to larger and more familiar ideas.

Carlos Teles seems to have been looking to wholesome old examples of grocery branding, opting for a retro style cartoon mascot on the front of the carton. Going back to mid-century methods, the designer has chosen a child to represent the breakfast food, rather than the more popular present preference for personified animals. Simple yet impactful typefaces complete Strong Boy Cereal packaging on a retro orange background.
