Sony AC Adapters Pose a Potential Risk to Consumers
Katherinev123 — October 29, 2009 — Tech
Sony has released a statement recalling 69,000 of its Sony AC adapters, which includes adapters for its VGC-LT and VGC-JS2 series desktops and VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1 docking stations.
Yet, even though Sony warns that the insulation inside the Sony AC adapters can fail over time and pose an electrical shock hazard, there have been no actual incidents or injuries—although there have been four reports of the adapters short circuiting. Regardless, you can bet I’ll be running home to check my Sony computer and calling them for a free replacement.
