The Solar Winds Gathering Place was designed with the intention of bringing a community together, of creating something beautiful and of demonstrating the power and value of environmentally friendly energy generation. This is quite the list of impressive qualities, so it may shock you further to discover that item number three works in two efficient ways.
It's difficult to determine the scale of these flower-like structures, but what you're looking at are posts of between 16 and 36 feet in height that are capped by wind turbines with diameters of 24 feet. The center of each integrates a circular solar panel so that Michael Jantzen's Solar Winds Gathering Place can harness gusts and the sun's rays. This power is delivered to the neighboring grid while the 15-piece installation provides benches for community socializing on-site.
