Holland is changing from a richly permissive society. Amsterdam is still OK with being the sex and drug capital of Europe, but city officials are still looking to close down about half the legal brothels and head shops. So far 109 sex windows have been closed while 373 still remain. As for the drug scene, mushroom sales are banned and two border towns are wanting to close all of their drug shops.
 By closing the brothels, the deputy mayor says Amsterdam will attract different kinds of tourists. “We can still have sex and drugs,” he said, “but in a way that shows the city is in control.
