'Smogathon' Aims to Reduce Smog in the City of Krakow

33 out of 50 of the most polluted cities in the European Union are in Poland, so Smogathon is trying to harness technology to fight that environmental scourge in one of Poland's most storied cities: Krakow. Smogathon is a hackathon that will collect some of the brightest ideas in the science and business industries to try and discover new and innovative ways to fight smog in Krakow.
Smogathon consists of two rounds. From among the pool of applicants, the Smogathon mentors will choose a maximum of 25 projects. These 25 teams will compete in the Smogathon Bootcamp, a 24 hour sprint to develop the best possible version of one's idea for fighting smog. These Bootcamp projects will then be judged, and the top 10 will move on to the finals, where the grand prize winner will receive 100,000 PLN, or approximately $25,000.
