Lamp Skirts (With a Message)
Going Like Sixty — June 19, 2008 — Art & Design
The art world was recently enlightened at a show called "Under My Skin". At the exhibit, French artist Marianne Maric made these lamps to illustrate girls, "as a thing conveyed by the entertainment world."
While on display, the public was invited to turn on the lamps, changing them from art to something useful. The artist said that it also illustrated the change of women into household appliances.
The gallery has focused strictly on video in the past. But this shocking little number was not available on video.
