XM Satellite Radio’s latest ads make use of very clever copy to deliver their message that they are commercial-free. My favorite of the three ads is the first one: The ad copy for XM radio is being interrupted by commercials, showing just how annoying other radio stations can be. These ads are pure genius, love them! They were created by advertising agency Adhouse with the great copy written by Tim Yuen.
Implications - The best advertisements connect a company and brand to a consumers personal life. One of the most effective forms of advertising is pet peeve marketing. An ad campaign that criticizes a commonly complained about activity connects with consumers who have been troubled by the issue in the past, or know someone who has. By publicizing a brand's disdain for a certain activity, the company increases the chances its products will connect with consumers on an emotional level.
