The Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, is saving homeless cats from the winter weather by providing food and shelter. While winter is tough enough for humans, the season can be devastating for animals without a home. Now, one man is trying to remedy the situation by providing shelter for the homeless kittens of Istanbul.

The Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Mosque began saving homeless cats after one friendly feline brought her kittens into the mosque. Imam Mustafa Efe welcomed the first cats to arrive and has since provided shelter and warmth for several others. The cats are free to roam through the mosque during sermons, much to the delight of those who attend.

With Turkey's large homeless animal population, the small act of kindness helps to draw attention to a much larger issue.
