Four students -- Chin Jung Cheng, Charlie Matlack, Penny Huang and Jacqueline Linnes from University of Washington -- have developed a device that indicates the level of purity of drinking water in bottles using Solar Disinfection.
This innovative device will be used by Fundación SODIS, to promote the usage of Solar Disinfection (SODIS) of water in plastic bottles in South America. The device has the ability to monitor how much light is passing through the bottle and this indicates the cleanliness of the water. This device will help to reduce the problems of clean drinking water in many developing countries.
