Scottish researchers from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, and Israeli medical company Step of Mind Ltd. (SoM) have come together to create the Re-Step, a motorized shoe designed to help seniors learn to walk again.

Often times an elderly person will lose their ability to walk not through a paralyzing accident or disease, but through brain injuries like a stroke or severe head trauma. The Re-Step is designed to make it more difficult to walk which will then aid rehabbing seniors when they have to leave therapy and face the often uneven surfaces of the outside world. Re-Step is hooked up to a computer which monitors every bit of information and uses it to make suggestions and provide assistance.
