'12 Tides,' the San Francisco-based startup in the CPG industry, has launched the 'Puffed Kelp Chips' collection of sustainable snacks. These Puffed Kelp Chips are available in three flavors: 'sea salt,' 'chili pepper,' and 'everything.' These flavors were selected as the first three as they appeal to a wide audience, providing customers with the option to enjoy a muted, spicy, or flavor-packed snack.
12 Tides chose kelp as its product base for two primary reasons. Firstly, kelp has a natural umami flavor and is high in various vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Additionally, kelp snacks are ocean-positive because kelp is a regenerative resource, and the packaging for kelp is easier to produce than the packaging for seaweed products. This means that 12 Tides' Puffed Kelp Chips are more sustainable across their entire production cycle when compared to other oceanic treats.
On top of the sustainability of the product, 12 Tides is a committed member of '1% for the planet,' an initiative that requires each member to donate at least one percent of its sales to a charitable organization. 12 Tides donates one percent of its sales to 'SeaTrees.'
