Generating environmental awareness through art, the Portable River by Luzinterruptus illuminated the streets of Caracas.

The Venezuelan capital city provided a setting for this piece by the Spanish collective. It consisted of over 2,000 transparent bags filled with plants, water, lights and artificial fish. These were set up in the urbane center to resemble a river, drawing cosmopolitan crowds to contemplate the value of natural resources such as water and ecosystems.

The installation doubled as a river and tiny aquariums as visitors were invited to take home the bags that resembled sacks of money. This resemblance was no coincidence as the artists meant to create a piece that stimulated discussion on the monetary value of natural resources. The result of this Portable River by Luzinterruptus was visually striking with an environmentally friendly message of awareness. Stats for Street Aquarium Installations Trending: Older & Mild
