Emily Schuman's 'Pie Pops' update sweet, candy-colored lollipops. While many have infused the stems with hardened saccharine ingredients, Schuman's Cupcakes and Cashmere blog has instead opted for a baked pastry-inspired version, replete with butter, flour and a bit of elbow grease.
These precious Pie Pops were made by Schuman from scratch. While she admitted that she would have rather purchased ready-made dough for time saving purposes, she created her own mixture and filled it with a sweet berry jelly. Basic cookie cutters created the rounded shape which was further embossed with the end of the white sticks. Brushes of egg whites and dashes of granulated sugar were the last additions to the Pie Pops, bringing about a rustic golden finish.
