The Philippe Halsman 'Jump' Photo Collection is 1940s Fabulous

The Laurence Miller gallery is putting on an exhibition featuring the Philippe Halsman ‘Jump’ series of photos. The images feature iconic celebrities and politicians, all jumping into mid-air. Famous faces in the series include pixie actress Audrey Hepburn, the original blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe and former American president Richard Nixon.

Arguably one of the most visually stimulating but well known portraits is of Salvador Dali “flanked by a chair and two easels (holding Dali canvases)—all elevated, and seemingly floating, above the floor.” The Philippe Halsman Jump portraits are definitely something to see.
