When most of us think of virtual tourism, we envision a Google Earth-esque satellite overview of a city; Pastiche heads in the other direction entirely with its text-based interface. Rather than navigating the foreign territory of a map, Pastiche allows you to explore the neighborhoods of New York City through tags and keywords that are linked to relevant news articles. Each borough essentially turns into a cluster of linked keywords, giving the tourist a realistic snapshot of a given area.  The project reveals that the city is a pastiche of memories, emotions, and descriptions that are as real as the buildings themselves.
