The Delanoe Tower

This year we’ve seen stunning architecture in Iran and China, last year it was Dubai that was the architectural darling, but today our eyes are locked on Paris, France.

Images of the first skyscraper in Paris have been leaked online and they’re truly remarkable. The 50 floor Delanoë tower (named after mayor Bertrand Delanoë), actually bares a lot of resemblance to the dancing towers in Dubai. The Delanoë tower was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the same designers who created the “Bird’s Nest” stadium for the Beijing Olympics.

The pyramid-like structure looks more like something you’d seen in Iran, as seen in the slideshow below.

Paris has never seen a building like this office building and luxury hotel, which is expected to be completed by 2012.

This cluster highlights some of the top architecture seen on Trend Hunter, from Dubai and China to Iran and Paris.

In July, the mayor won backing from Paris’ city council to make exceptions to a 30-year-old ban on high-rise buildings, currently limited to 37 metres. There are also plans for luxury boutiques, a panoramic restaurant, a swimming pool, hanging gardens and a Babel-like "museum of languages of the world." (telegraph)
