Kasey McMahon’s ‘Pants Optional: A Relatively Civilized Fashion Primer for the Well-Clad’ pairs serious style tips on how to wear pants with 16th-century fashion illustrations. The results are positively hilarious.

Ordinarily, the fashion advice proposed in the third image wouldn’t surprise anyone: “Hold on to a few of your favorite outdated pieces. You never know!” However, when it’s paired with a sword-wielding gentleman clad in all black staring pensively into the text, the piece becomes an entirely new work of art.
