Most of us would have heard of the Optimus Maximus Keyboard which employed small OLED Screens on the keys which could be programmed to preform different functions. Optimus has already hit the drawing boards and is planning a release of a new version which makes use of a single large OLED screen and a touch surface similiar to the iPhone.

But whats the benefit? Well this will open a whole new world of possibilities. The Keyboard could be programmed to support different controls for different programs. Music editing software could program the keyboard to have sliders and knobs, Graphics programs can program the keyboard to display color palettes, games can have their own keyboard layout with intuitive instructions. The options are limitless. The Keyboard can also be programmed to play videos. How cool is that ?

Definitely the next step in computer input after the mouse.
