'OpenVoice' is a new open-source voice cloning application using artificial intelligence to recreate voices based on samples. The tool was created through a joint effort of 'MyShell,' an AI startup based in Canada, and researchers across two universities: the Tsinghua University in Beijing, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA.
Aside from its open-source nature, OpenVoice sets itself aside from other AI voice cloning tools with its precise control of the replicated voice. According to MyShell's post on X announcing the launch of the tool, the tool enables users to "Clone voices with unparalleled precision, with granular control of tone, from emotion to accent, rhythm, pauses, and intonation, using just a small audio clip."
