Carnival is one of the world's biggest cruise fleets and the owner of the biggest cruise ship on Earth, and the company's new 'Ocean Medallion' is designed to help give guests a personalized experience -- even among such all-encompassing size. The discreet, 1.8 ounce disc can be worn on a wristband or as a pendant, and it syncs with an integrated system on board to help guests get the best out of their trip.

The Ocean Medallion itself contains an NFC chip and a Bluetooth Low Energy antenna. With these two pieces of technology (neither of which require any charging or active operation,) the ships system can recognize guests as they move about. It can then give them information on upcoming activities, opportunities, and experiences going on around the ship.

Considering that Carnival's largest ship carries over 4,000 guests, that level of automated personalization is essential for a positive experience.
