The new President-elect has a nasty habit, and it has nothing to do with Washington escort services: Barack Obama has admitted publicly that he is a smoker struggling to quit.

Tom Brokaw recently grilled President Obama about his smoking habits and whether they would continue during his high-stress career in the White House (which is a smoke-free zone.). Obama has expressed his commitment to the American people to be a role model for hopeful quitters everywhere.

Anti-smoking groups can barely contain themselves in the hope that maybe, just maybe, Obama will make his act to quit smoking a public campaign and encourage others to join him.

"It's a wonderful opportunity," says Cheryl Healton, president of the American Legacy Foundation, a Washington-based group that seeks to prevent smoking among young people. "The president-elect is in a position to help people understand that it's difficult to quit, and to encourage the 43 million adult Americans who smoke to join him in his efforts." (news.yahoo)

There is so much potential for this to become a huge anti-smoking movement. Obama could inspire so many people. No one could get away with the excuse, "I would quit, but my life is too stressful right now." If Obama manages to butt out, anyone can. What job is more stressful than running the US?
