This Germany-based company, which has a network of farms that provide it beef, offers its customers customization options you would never get at a grocery store. Mycow lets its customers choose which farm their beef comes from in addition to the way in which the cows are slaughtered.
Customers just have to visit Mycow's website to subscribe to the delivery service and select their preferences, such as whether the cow has been slaughtered in a factory versus a field. According to Mycow, killing cows in a pasture or field creates less stress among the cows, and this produces more high-quality meat in turn. However, as PSFK points out, while this method of slaughter is more human, it is also more expensive and difficult because a license is required. Thus, it is currently not a popular method among farmers.
