The 'Museo Atlantico' exhibit is the latest underwater installation by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor. While most artists work hard to have their work publicly displayed, this artist chooses to hide his creations on the bottom of the ocean floor.
The Museo Atlantico exhibit is an underwater installation located off the coast of the Spanish island of Lanzarote. The sculptures are located 12 to 15 meters below the water making them only accessible to scuba divers and snorkelers. In total, the installation consists of 400 life-like sculptures, each of which was handcrafted by Taylor. The sculptures are intentionally designed to attract marine life, which conveys the complex relationship between humans and nature. The installation is also interned to send a message about some the current threats facing the world's oceans and what we can do about it.
