There are very strong insinuations that Brazil is not too happy with Italy right now. The problem has to do with a very strong S/S ‘09 print campaign for the Italian brand Relish that was photographed in Brazil and shows two women being manhandled by Brazilian police.

Inspired by the movie ‘Thelma & Louise,’ which is about two women on the lam, the Relish print ads depict two glamorous and fashion-conscious women on the run who are violently arrested by the Brazilian police.

Many people in Brazil are up in arms and there have been allegations that the ads promote violence against women and depict them as prostitutes.

The saga continues and there have been speculations that this Relish print ad campaign may escalate into a political scandal between the two countries.

Berluscone is really pissed off with Brazil! It's all over the news, every single day here in Brazil...

I am all for art, especially since this is a recreation and homage to the iconic movie. BUT, why is the Italian brand using Brazilian policemen in the images? If they want to have an edgy campaign, fine, but they should have used Italian police outfits. This is an apparent and unfortunate jab at Brazil, which shouldnt be what a fashion campaign is about.

I'm with you Ayman. I just find it so strange that they went to Brazil to do this. Why didn't they shoot it in Italy? Why Brazil especially when they were going to disparage the country's police? I don't get it.

I found those pictures so ugly... No styling, ugly models, ugly everything... If at least it was a beautiful or interesting editorial...
