Mind Contoller for Video Games [Edit]

Well, we really are living in the future, so far in fact, that there is no longer a need to control video games with our hands!

That’s idea I’m getting from ProjectEpoc, a helmet like mind controller for video games. But before you get lost in daydreams… what would you play? I am interested to see what kind of games are developed for this controller, it’s pretty complicated to decipher brain waves… then again, I’m no doctor.

The controller isn’t available commercially, but will be on display at the Game Developers Conference.

Until then, looks like you’ll still be mashing your fingers on the keys… bummer.

Based on the latest developments in neuro-technology, Emotiv has developed a new interface for human computer interaction. Project Epoc is a headset that uses a set of sensors to tune into electric signals naturally produced by the brain to detect player thoughts, feelings and expression. It connects wirelessly with all game platforms from consoles to PCs. Project Epoc now makes it possible for games to be controlled and influenced by the player's mind. Engaging, immersive, and nuanced, Emotiv-inspired game-play will be like nothing ever seen before. (emotiv)

mind controler

They are currently trying to make computers controlled by hand gestures; soon it will be with the mind. I cannot wait to see 3d modeling programs or claytronics (programmable matter) being manipulated with the mind. Just think of the Freudian slips, or the ways we learn to work around constant mental bombardment. Would the subconscious cease to exist?
