Vina Rust is a creative metalsmith based in Seattle, Washington. These pieces of jewelry are from her “Stained Cell” and “Stamen” collections which were both inspired by plant biology.

Rust groups silver and gold tubing together, adheres the cylinders together and them slices the resulting bars into cross-sections creating these fabulously detailed accessories that become rings, pendants, brooches and earrings. The process is similar to that which is commonly done with polymer clay.

Each tube represents a microscopic botanical ‘blood vessel’ in which water and nutrients are transported through stems and leaves to provide life to plants.
