Formulaic Body Art

This pi tattoo was simply so stunning it set me off on a whole math vibe. Apparently people now get really complex, like e to the i pi plus 1. Or something like that.

The formula on the girl’s arm belongs to a teacher and they make her cover it up at work which I think is a real shame—if anything was going to get kids interested in math, it would be their teacher’s tattoo.

Two of these people have actually forgotten what their tattoos represented. Can anyone help them? And apparently, the answer to each of these equations is 42.

"This is a formula called the Y Combinator. It is a fixed-point combinator in the lambda calculus and was discovered by Haskell Curry, a rather prolific mathematician and logician whose work helped start Computer Science." (tatto-design.blogspot)
